Cabling design and site planning
Outlet counts and positions from the floor plan and seating layout, cable routes, communications room placement, containment design and capacity for future growth.
Our Services
Cabling is the only part of your network that is expected to outlast three generations of hardware. Smartland Technology installs structured cabling in Dubai to a documented standard — routed, terminated, labelled and tested, so the physical layer never becomes the limitation.
Ask why a network is unreliable and the answer is often below the switch: links terminated badly, cable run alongside power, bends past the minimum radius, no labelling, and nothing tested after installation. The symptoms look like intermittent hardware faults, so the cabling is the last place anyone checks.
A structured cabling system removes that ambiguity. Every outlet has an identity, every link has a test result, and every change is a patch lead rather than a new cable pulled through a ceiling.
Structured cabling is a planned, standards-based cabling system rather than a collection of individual runs. It has defined parts: work-area outlets at the desk, horizontal cabling back to a floor distributor, patch panels and racks in the communications room, and backbone cabling — usually fibre — linking floors and buildings.
Because the system is planned, moves and changes happen at the patch panel. A desk moves, a device is added, a floor is reconfigured — none of that requires new cable to be installed, because the outlets are already there and already identified.
The discipline that makes it work is unglamorous: correct cable category for the required performance, separation from electrical services, respected bend radii, consistent termination, containment that supports the cable properly, labelling at both ends, and certified test results for every link.
What we deliver
New fit-outs, expansions, remedial work and full recabling of sites that have grown without a plan.
Outlet counts and positions from the floor plan and seating layout, cable routes, communications room placement, containment design and capacity for future growth.
Copper horizontal cabling to work areas, meeting rooms, access points, cameras, printers and display positions, installed to the required category and terminated consistently.
Backbone links between floors, buildings and communications rooms where distance or bandwidth exceeds what copper supports, with proper termination, protection and loss testing.
Panel layout, rack build, trunking, tray and basket containment, and cable management that keeps service loops accessible and bend radii intact.
A consistent labelling scheme applied at outlet, panel and rack, with cabling schedules and floor plans that let anyone identify a link without tracing it.
Every link tested and results issued. Where we are correcting existing cabling, we test first, report the failures, and fix by exception rather than replacing everything by default.

Outcomes
A labelled, tested system turns an intermittent problem into a specific link with a known history, instead of a week of substitution.
Desk moves and new devices are patch-panel work. No ceilings opened, no contractors, no disruption to the floor.
Cabling installed to a specification above today’s requirement means the next switch generation does not force a recabling project.
Containment, panel discipline and labelling keep the room serviceable for years instead of degrading with each change.
Industries and use cases
Structured cabling is the common requirement behind almost every fit-out and expansion we work on.
Our process
Planned from the floor plan, delivered around the trades already on site.
We survey the site, review floor plans and seating, identify communications room locations and constraints, and agree outlet counts per area.
Cable routes, containment, panel layout, labelling scheme, specification and a programme coordinated with the fit-out or the working day.
Install containment and cabling, terminate, dress and label, then test every link and correct anything that fails before handover.
Test results, as-built documentation and cabling schedules issued — plus support for later additions that follow the same scheme.
These usually come up in the same conversation. See all of our IT infrastructure services.
The switching and topology that this cabling carries.
Access point positions require cabled links planned during the survey.
Rack build, containment and patching inside the communications room.
Concealed power and data runs to each display position.
It depends on the speeds you need now, the distances involved, and how long the cabling is expected to serve. Cabling outlives switches, so we normally recommend installing above today’s requirement — the labour cost dominates, and the difference in cable price is small against pulling it twice.
Yes. Containment and cable pulling are staged by area, noisy or disruptive work is scheduled outside business hours where required, and each area is tested and handed back before the next begins.
Yes. Every installed link is tested and the results are issued as part of handover, along with labelling schedules and as-built documentation. A cabling installation without test results cannot be verified later.
Not necessarily. We test the existing links first. Often a proportion pass and only specific runs need replacement, alongside relabelling and tidying the communications room. We report what we find before recommending scope.
Yes. Fibre backbone is used where distance or bandwidth exceeds copper limits, including links between floors, buildings and separate communications rooms, with termination and loss testing included.
Yes, and it is the better sequence. Containment and first-fix cabling should be planned alongside ceiling, partition and electrical works rather than retrofitted once the space is finished.
Send us the floor plan. We will survey the site and quote a cabling design with test results included.
